Perth Glory, the Australian Football Club, announced in a statement that it has signed for one season with former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge, who has not been associated with any team for more than 18 months.
“It’s a great opportunity to take on a new challenge,” England striker Sturridge said on his new club’s website. “I will strive to give my best and work hard to help the team win every game.”
Sturridge, 32, has not been linked to any team since March 2020, when he terminated his contract with Turkey’s Trabzonspor after the English Football Association suspended him for 4 months for violating betting regulations.
Sturridge won the Premier League title with Chelsea, and the Champions League title with Liverpool and Chelsea, and began training with Real Mallorca last July, to maintain his fitness.
Sturridge scored 68 goals in all competitions during his 6 years with Liverpool and also played for Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, and West Bromwich Albion.
