Spanish actress Penelope Cruz won the Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday for her role in “Parallel Mother” directed by Pedro Almodovar (Madris Parallas).

Accepting the award, Cruz said, “Thank you, Pedro, you have done a magical job, I adore you.” The film tells the story of two women who give birth to their children on the same day and the same nursery school, and Penelope Cruz embodies the role of a forty-year-old photographer who lives a turbulent life.
