Actor Damian Lewis, the husband of British actress Helen McCrory, said Friday that she had died of cancer at the age of 52.
Lewis said: “I declare, with great sadness, that after a heroic battle with cancer, the wonderful beautiful woman Helen McCrory died peacefully at home, amid an overflow of love from her friends and family.”
The two married in 2007 and have two children.
McCrory was best known for playing roles for strong characters in theater and cinema. The news of her death was met with a flood of lamentation from authors and actors, including JK Rowling, author of the “Harry Potter” series, with which the late actress participated in her films.
