Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel praised the performance of midfielder Mason Mount and his scoring touch, saying that the England national team performs well and is completely focused on his mission.
Tuchel’s comments came ahead of Chelsea’s match with Crystal Palace in the Premier League later on Saturday.
Mount scored his first goal in the Champions League last Wednesday in his side’s 2-0 victory over Porto in the first leg of the quarter-finals, becoming the youngest Chelsea player to score in the knockout stages in the tournament at the age of 22 years and 87 days.
Since Tuchel succeeded Frank Lampard in Chelsea in January, Mount has scored 5 goals in all competitions, more than any other player on the team.
On the possibility of the praise on the player’s behavior and performance, Tuchel said, “I think he has a lot of realism and can deal with that.”
The German coach added, “The praise will not change him at all… His focus is good and he is psychologically stable and very mature, but at the same time he has a sparkle in his eyes, which is a very good mixture.”
Chelsea is fifth among the Premier League teams with 51 points, eight rounds before the end of the season.
