Paris Saint-Germain overcomes the ghost of Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain overcame their humiliating exit in 2017 and drew 1-1 at home to Barcelona on Wednesday, completing their 5-2 aggregate lead and qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals.

Four years ago, Barcelona reversed its 4-0 loss in the first leg of the Round of 16 to a big 6-1 victory, and Paris Saint-Germain lacked creativity, but a 4-1 victory in the first leg in Spain was enough.

Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick at Camp Nou, opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Lionel Messi equalized with a stunning shot from long range, but missed a penalty saved by Keylor Navas at the end of the first half.

The French champions retreated to the defense after the break and Barcelona pressed, but they bid farewell to the competition before reaching the semi-finals for the second year in a row.
