Oman Air gives up plans to expand its fleet due to “Corona”

Oman Air – a state-run airline company – has abandoned the planned expansion and is currently seeking to reduce its fleet, at a time when measures to curb the Corona epidemic have reduced demand for flights.

“The risks of increasing the number of aircraft will be very high for the country and the airline,” Mohammed Al-Barwani, the company’s chairman, told “WAF Oman”. Instead, the company is seeking a fleet of 36 aircraft, which means reducing its current fleet by 50 aircraft.

Last month, Oman decided to dissolve its air transport services company, the “Oman Aviation Group”, and also decided to divide its operations between the national carrier and the local airport management company.
