Announcing the first “online” film festival in the Middle East

The activities of the first edition of the “Online Film Festival”, headed by Egyptian actress Samah Anwar, will start from January 28 until next February 4.

The jury includes the director of photography, Kamal Abdel Aziz, as president, and the membership of the Egyptian writer Abdel Rahim Kamal, director Ahmed Atef, and the Tunisian actress Dora, and it is decided to honor the artist Yusra and Mahmoud Hamida, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony.

The festival management held a press conference in Cairo, on Sunday, in the presence of all the jury, to reveal the features of the first session of the festival.

The festival management received about 50 films from different countries, as registration was opened for a period of approximately 22 days under the slogan “Women’s Cinema”, with the condition that the participating films do not contain violence or destructive behaviors.

Actress Samah Anwar, president of the “Aflamha” festival, said at the beginning of her interview with “Al Sharq”, “The idea of ​​the festival was not a spur of the moment, but rather I worked on it for almost 3 years, and finally it turned into reality, to be the first festival in the Middle East. Its activities are held online. “

She stated that she had set up a special platform to display all independent films throughout the year, not just during the festival period, explaining that “many directors do not find a way to display their films, so the platform will allow them to do so, in addition to marketing their work.”

She emphasized that there are no financial support agencies for the festival, as they spend from their own budget. Follow up: “The cost of the festival is entirely from my own money, and the prizes are worth 50,000 pounds.”
